Thinning & Application
WaterBorne® Ultra Matte Gel may be thinned with water to achieve the consistency needed for your desired effect. There is no fixed mixing ratio; the amount of water depends on the application and the finish you wish to create.
Apply using a brush or sponge.
Important: When using with WaterBorne® paints, avoid applying Ultra Matte Gel between paint layers, as permanent stickiness has been reported. Use only very small amounts as a paint additive or apply as a final mattifying layer after all painting is complete.
A Note for Longtime WaterBorne® Artists:
You may recognize Ultra Matte Gel from older WaterBorne® tutorials. Although it was used in earlier techniques, it is no longer necessary for the standard WaterBorne® painting process.
Today, we primarily recommend it for special effects, texture creation, and selective mattifying applications.
